Mary the Midwife, LM, CD (DONA), ICCE, DONA Doula Trainer

Mary’s personal knowledge compliments her vast experience. She has given birth to nine children having eight homebirths and one birth center birth with seven very different midwives providing her care.

Mary has attended over five hundred birthing women and has worked with eight licensed midwives and ten internationally certified midwives. Plus she has assisted numerous doctors, certified nurse midwives and nurses.

Her midwifery experience began in 1990 when she became a homebirth midwife assistant and she did that for almost five years.

She then became an internationally certified childbirth educator and she still teaches classes today.

From there she became a certified doula and doula trainer for DONA International and she continues to train doulas twice a year.

During her career as a doula she started the Arizona Doulas Organization & Birth Education Association, Inc. (ADOBE) and continues to oversee the whole organization as the President of the Board and is dedicated to serving women and babies.

Increasing the number of midwives and visibility of homebirth is her new passion. She currently is working on the board of directors of the Arizona Midwifery Institute, Inc (AMI) and is establishing a student midwifery program in Belize Central America.
